Quick Caramelized Pears
Faster than baked pears, these are excellent served for dessert over frozen yogurt or ice cream, for breakfast over oatmeal, pancakes or waffles - or even for dinner over roasted chicken or pork.
1 Tbsp. sugar
⅛ tsp. cinnamon
2 Tbsps. butter
2 cans (15.25oz.ea.) Del Monte® Sliced Pears in Heavy Syrup [or Sliced Cling Peaches in Heavy Syrup], well drained
Chopped toasted almonds, optional
Combine sugar and cinnamon in a small bowl; set aside. Melt butter in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat; add pears and sprinkle with cinnamon-sugar. Cook about 4 minutes, without stirring, until pears become a rich golden brown. Gently turn over with a spatula, and continue to cook 3 to 4 minutes longer, until pears are evenly browned. Be careful not to burn.
Remove from heat and let stand 5 minutes before serving with almonds, if desired.
