Ingredients

1 can (14.5 oz.) Del Monte® No Sugar Added Sliced Pears, well drained

6 oz. prosciutto slices or very thinly sliced smoked deli ham

1 cup fresh baby arugula leaves

Blue cheese cut into slices or crumbled into large pieces

Honey

Red pepper flakes, cracked black pepper or Aleppo pepper

Directions

  1. Pat pear slices dry with paper towels.  Cut prosciutto or ham slices in half lengthwise into strips about 1 1/2-inches wide.

  2. Place a pear slice on one end of a prosciutto strip.  Place a few arugula leaves and a piece of cheese snugly beside the pear and wrap the prosciutto around and around. Secure with a pick, if desired. Continue with remaining pear slices and arrange on a platter.

  3. Drizzle wrapped pears lightly with honey and sprinkle with desired pepper.

VARIATIONS:

  • Baked Pear Bites – Prepare Step 1 as recipe directs. Omit arugula and arrange on a parchment-lined large, rimmed baking sheet.  Bake at 400°F for about 8 minutes just until prosciutto browns and cheese is softened. Finish with honey and pepper before serving.
  • Savory Peach Bites – Prepare as recipe directs, except use 1 can (15 oz.) Del Monte® Sliced Peaches in 100% Juice instead of pears, fresh basil leaves instead of arugula and goat cheese instead of blue cheese.

TIP

  • Save drained pear juice to add to seltzer water, vinaigrettes, fruit salad, cake mix batter, iced tea, lemonade, hot cereal, stir fry sauce or BBQ sauce.
