Thanksgiving isn’t the only time to enjoy this simple side dish that combines Fall tastes in a new way.

Ingredients

2 cans (29 oz. each) Princella® or Sugary Sam® Cut Sweet Potatoes, not drained

1/2 cup butter

2 Tbsp. chopped fresh sage

1/2 tsp. black pepper

1 can (15.25oz.) Del Monte® Sliced Pears in Heavy Syrup or 1 can (15 oz.) Del Monte® Lite Sliced Pears, drained and chopped

Salt, optional

Directions
  1. Bring sweet potatoes with the light syrup to a simmer in a large saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Drain all but ¼ cup syrup; return potatoes and reserved syrup to saucepan, cover and set aside.
  2. Meanwhile, melt butter in a large skillet over low heat. Cook, swirling pan occasionally, about 10 to 15 minutes or until butter is lightly browned and fragrant. Remove pan from heat; stir in sage and immediately pour sage butter into pan with hot potatoes and light syrup. Add pepper and mash to desired consistency.
  3. Gently stir in pears and season to taste with salt, if desired.
