Take regular hot dogs over the top with this tangy, tart relish. It’s a classic German dish that’s quick, easy and a blast for the whole family.

  • 1 can (14.5 oz.) Del Monte® Bavarian Style Sauerkraut, drained and rinsed
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup vinegar
  • 1 tsp. prepared mustard
  • 1 cup finely chopped red and/or green sweet pepper
  • 1/3 cup finely chopped onion
  • 12 bratwursts or frankfurters, grilled
  • 12 bratwurst or frankfurter buns, split and toasted
  • (Optional) black pepper

Cooking Directions

1. Heat sugar, vinegar and 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, if desired, in saucepan until sugar dissolves.
2. Stir in remaining ingredients except bratwursts and buns. Heat through, if desired.
3. Lift relish from liquid with slotted spoon. Serve warm or chilled over grilled bratwurst with buns. Store any leftover relish, covered, in refrigerator up to 3 days.
