Meet Registered Dietitian Sarah Ludmer

Sarah Ludmer RD, LDN is the Nutritionist for Del Monte Foods. As the Company’s spokesperson on food and nutrition, Sarah helps consumers understand the healthy, convenient and affordable ways they can meet the Dietary Guidelines for Americans with a variety of Del Monte products.

Sarah works closely with Del Monte’s Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance departments to ensure that all Del Monte Foods products meet current nutrition standards. She is the internal nutrition resource for Consumer Affairs, Marketing, Communications and Product Teams throughout the company. She ensures that all recipes meet Del Monte’s health and wellness criteria, developing recipes for Delmonte.com and various product initiatives. Sarah plays a lead role in advancing many of Del Monte’s health and wellness initiatives.

Sarah has been licensed in numerous states and has a range of work experience in all areas of clinical dietetics. Most recently, Sarah worked in dialysis units educating renal patients at Fresenius Medical Care in Pittsburgh, PA. Prior to that, she worked at hospitals in Maine and Philadelphia, focusing on pediatrics, intensive care, and wound healing. Sarah has also been involved in clinical research for new diabetic medications and has taught diabetic and heart healthy classes at various hospitals.

Sarah is a member of the American Dietetic Association. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition from the Pennsylvania State University and completed her dietetic internship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation.

My sister was recently been diagnosed with Celiac Disease and was told to avoid all products containing wheat. Are your products wheat free?
First, a little background on Celiac Disease. Celiac disease is a disease that a damages the lining of the intestinal tract. People with Celiac Disease cannot tolerate gluten, a protein that is found in wheat, rye and barley. When people with Celiac Disease eat a food or consume a product that contains gluten, their immune system kicks in and destroys the lining of the intestinal tract which causes decreased absorption of all nutrients.
