Privacy Policy
The companies of the Del
Monte Foods® family care about
your privacy. We want to tell you in detail about the policies and
practices which we have adopted to protect your privacy so that you can
feel confident about how we handle the personal information you choose
to entrust to us online. We hope that you enjoy our site and will come
back often to visit! For convenience, references to "Del Monte" in this
Policy refer to all member companies of the Del Monte Foods family
We care about children's privacy. Please see the second section
below for specific provisions covering Del Monte's collection, use and
disclosure of personal information from children.
GENERAL POLICY
When do we Collect Personal Information?
We only collect personally identifiable data, such as names, addresses,
e-mail addresses, hobby or activity information, demographic information
(age, gender, etc.), taste or preference information, and the like, when
voluntarily submitted by a visitor. Visitors may choose to submit personal
information to enter contests, to obtain information or submit a comment,
to register for a loyalty program, or to place an order. We have special
policies in place for children under age 13. We require children under the
age of 13 to get parental permission in connection with providing personal
information or ordering anything on-line.
What do we do with the Information?
Providing personal information is up to you, our visitor. We will collect
personally identifiable information to enter you in contests and notify you
of results, to e-mail you with updates and news, to respond to your questions
or comments, to register you for certain features, and to send out brochures,
recipes, and other information on our products. We ask visitors providing
e-mail addresses to let us know if they would like further information or
updates from our site; only those who request it will receive follow-up
e-mail or other communications from us. We may also ask if you would like to
receive information about other products available from members of our family
of companies. Only those over 13 who expressly ask to receive such information
online will get it. We also offer visitors an "opt-out" option at any time they
wish to cease receiving e-mails or other information from us. We may provide
personal information to our business partners who are joining us in a particular
promotion or activity. However, we will never sell personal information that
you voluntarily provide us to any third party. It is used solely by us, our
agents or business partners to respond to your requests and to better serve you.
How do we use "Cookies"?
We use "cookie" technology and IP addresses only to obtain non-personal
information from on-line visitors to provide them with the best possible
personalized on-line experience. To do this we do keep track of the type of
browser (e.g., Internet Explorer, Netscape) and operating system
(e.g., Windows, Macintosh) used by the visitor, and the domain name of the
visitor's Internet service provider. We also track the total number of visitors
to our site in an aggregate form to allow us to update and improve our site;
personally identifiable information is not extracted in this process. This helps
us keep our site fresh and interesting to the majority of our visitors. Cookie
technology also helps us deliver content tailored to a visitor's interests. You
may disable cookies or set your browser to alert you when cookies are being sent.
However, if you do disable cookies, we may be unable to optimize your visit to
our site.
Credit Card Transaction Information
We care about the safety and security of your transaction.
We use SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) to communicate with your browser
software when you order from us online. SSL is the industry standard
security protocol, which makes it extremely difficult for anyone else
to intercept your credit card / transaction and order information that
you send us.
How we Safeguard Personal Information
We have instituted safeguards to check that our internal
procedures meet our high policy standards. We also use our best efforts
to be sure that third parties who work with us agree to protect personal
information that they must access in order to serve our site and our visitors.
What about Links to Other Sites?
We may offer links to other sites; for example, coupons for Del Monte
and other fine products may be made available through a link to an agent
that specializes in the distribution of on-line coupons. It is our policy
to try to link only with sites that share our views on privacy. Nevertheless,
we are not responsible for the content or information collection policies of
other sites. If you visit another site, you should review their privacy and
other policies.
Further Disclosures
We reserve the right to use or disclose any information as needed to
satisfy any law, regulation or legal request, to protect the integrity
of the site, to fulfill your requests, or to cooperate in any legal
investigation.
Changes to our Policy
While we do not intend to make changes to our policies very
often, it is always a good idea to double check when you visit
our site to be sure that you have read and agree with our most
current policy statement. The date of our policy will always
be set forth at the bottom of the policy. Any change in our
privacy policy will be prospective only. We will not make any
changes that have retroactive effect unless legally required
to do so.
What Should I do if I have Questions?
If you have questions about our privacy policy or would like us to
change or delete information we have about you (subject to any applicable
legal exceptions) or would like to opt out of receiving further information,
please contact us at

A NOTE TO PARENTS: SPECIAL INFORMATION ON CHILDREN'S PRIVACY
We care about personal privacy, especially the privacy of our children.
Accordingly, Del Monte has adopted privacy guidelines which comply with the
Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 and supports the guidelines
issued by the Council of Better Business Bureaus' Children's Advertising
Review Unit (CARU). We are especially mindful of the need for children who
may visit this site to obtain parental consent in connection with the furnishing
of personal information or ordering anything on-line (note that when we refer
to "parent" in this Policy we also include the legal guardian of a child).
In order to fulfill our privacy commitment with respect to children, we ask
visitors who are providing personal information whether they are under 13,
and if so, to provide a separate parent's e-mail address, so that we can contact
the parent in accordance with our privacy policy.
While Del Monte will take all reasonable steps to protect the privacy
of your children, we recommend that you, as parents, monitor your
children's on-line activities and learn about and use software or other
tools which can help you assure that children experience the fun and
entertainment of an on-line experience in a manner that reflects your own
preferences.
We hope that you and your children enjoy our site and visit us often!
What Information do we Collect from Children?
We will collect a child's e-mail address to respond to
questions about the site, or for an online sweepstakes, contest or
promotion. Where we know a child is under age 13 (we may ask for age
or birth date to find this out), we require prior parental
consent in connection with the collection of personally identifiable
information concerning the child. The only exceptions to this are
where we collect limited "contact information" (such as an e-mail address)
(1) to respond to a one-time request from a child, (2) to provide notice
to a parent, (3) to respond more than once to specific requests from
children (e.g., to provide an online magazine subscription or a contest
entry and subsequent award) as long as we also give notice to a parent
and the opportunity to say "no" to this arrangement, and (4) to ensure
the safety of a child or of the site.
We may also require that the child provide us with a separate e-mail
address for his or her parent and send an e-mail notice to the parent
regarding the child's request. Those notices give the parent a chance to
consent to or opt-out of the information-collection on behalf of the child.
To enter a sweepstakes or contest, we may ask a child if he or she is a
boy or a girl, or ask him or her about general likes and dislikes - hobbies,
activities, taste preferences, school interests, pets, and the like. We may
sometimes ask visitors to respond to polls or surveys. Often, information
can be provided anonymously and won't be associated with a visitor's name,
address, e-mail address or the like. Some contests may offer children a chance
to express themselves creatively by sending or e-mailing stories or pictures.
We will not post pictures of children without parental consent. Sweepstakes
and contest notifications of winners are sent to the parent and the parent
will be listed as the winner unless the parent specifically consents to
identifying the child as a winner.
Children are not permitted to order merchandise at this site without
parental consent.
How do we use Personal Information Collected from Children?
We use personal information to respond to a child's question or
request, signing them up for future announcements regarding promotions or
products, or entering them in a contest or sweepstakes. We also use it to
notify parents that the child has won a sweepstakes or contest, and ask
parents of winners for home address information to send an affidavit of
eligibility to sign on behalf of their child.
Personal information about children under 13 is available only to Del
Monte and its affiliate companies and to those companies who work at
or on the site or who provide technical and other fulfillment support
services to the site. We do not require a child to disclose more information
than is reasonably necessary to participate in a contest, game or other
activity as a condition of participation. We will never sell personal
information collected from children.
Links to Other Sites
In our children's areas, it is our policy to link only to other sites
that indicate that they adhere to the CARU Guidelines on children's
marketing. Nevertheless, we cannot be responsible for the content or
information collection practices of any other site.
Review, Change and Revocation
Upon proper identification, parents may review the personal information
we have collected about the child, request changes, request deletions,
or refuse to allow further collection or use. When a parent has revoked
his or her consent, Del Monte will stop collecting, using or disclosing
information from that child. This may mean that a child's participation
in a certain activity will end if the information collected was or is
necessary for the child's participation in the activity.
If you would like us to delete information we have about your child
(subject to applicable legal exceptions), or opt-out of further
information collection for your child, please contact us at
privacy.coordinator@delmonte.com.
Proper identification will be required. All requests to review information
about your child must be in writing, signed by you, and include your full
name, address, and phone number, along with your child's e-mail address
and screen name (if any).

integrity of the site, to fulfill your requests, or to cooperate in any
legal investigation.
